Another year of GeekGirlCon has come and gone. Despite some of the troubles recently faced by the organizing team, including the last-minute departure of the group’s Executive Director, it seemed to be another resounding success.

One of the best parts about GeekGirlCon is the diversity of people, including young people, that it draws. It has a level of accessibility and a feeling of safety that you don’t often find in the larger, more traditional con expo halls.

This year featured some notable guests, including G. Willow Wilson, writer of Marvel’s Ms. Marvel comic, and Kimberly Brooks, voice of Ashely in the Mass Effect series and Princess Allura in Voltron: Legendary Defender.

Another fun addition this year was the Let’s Play series of panels, where audience members got to watch game makers and experts play their own games, including a Magic duel with the Lady Planeswalkers Society, a Destiny 2 session with developers from Bungie, and a Mass Effect Andromeda with Sara Ryder voice actress Fryda Wolff.
