bigfish-smallpond

You’d think that life in a big city would be just fabulous for finding love, right? It’s a bigger pond to fish in, for starters. There’s all sorts of activities for couples, from laid back cafes and restaurants to adventure date activities like skydiving and whale watching.

So, why do some people have so much trouble finding that special someone?

This week’s reader asked: After moving back to the city, I’ve gotten steady work and made a stable home for myself. I have friends, but dating has brought a string of heartbreak, tragedy and disappointments. I feel that I may find better prospects for romantic relationships, and a more rewarding career should I move to another city. What are your impressions?

Reader, to answer your question, I used a basic three card spread, with a fourth card pulled for Advice.

Let’s see what the cards have to say.

Card 1, Past: Ace of Pentacles, reversed

Got money and no joy, or joy and no money. You can have both! Not happy with job. New job, home, or business enterprises are delayed. Love without sex, or vice versa. Physical or spiritual and/or emotional needs aren’t being met. Long distance relationships.

In the past, it seemed that you really started to notice that your relationships were lacking something important, yet indefinable. Call it passion, call it Soul, something crucial was missing. It may have seemed that if your financial life was together, your love life was in shambles.

Card 2, Present: Queen of Wands, reversed

Scattered to the winds! Needing to take back your own power, your own agency. Take back your inner Diva. Don’t be a wallflower!

Everyone has an Inner Diva It has nothing to do with gender, sexual orientation, whether you’re El Suave Macho, or Senora Delicada! The Inner Diva is that part of you that say, ” Because I said so!”, and makes it stick. Inner Diva knows what it wants, and isn’t afraid to take control and go get it. Make friends with your Inner Diva, and realize you’re worth better treatment than you’re used to getting from your partners. Take center stage, and let yourself shine.

Card 3, Future: The Lovers

You are now officially at a crossroads. Make the choice that is healthiest for you, first! Positive relationships. Consider a city known for Love.

Reader, it looks like you’re coming up on a time where you’re going to have to make some tough, life changing decisions. You’d do best to pick a place to live that fulfills all your needs, and offers you lots of choices when it comes to prospective partners. One of the things that’ll help is if you’re “in love” with the place you’re going to reside. So the answer to your question is, yes, you’re more likely to find the right person for you somewhere else, preferably a bit smaller. Happy hunting!

Card 4, Advice for the Future: 7 of Wands

Toughing it out. Standing up for what you believe in. Tenacity. Don’t give up! Struggle, but you can win if you try.

If you choose to move, Reader, the going could be a bit rough. It’s a big transition. But, if you stick to your guns, you’ll be fine–and find the right partner.

Wrapping it up:

Here’s the message I’m getting on this: a lot of your issues with recent relationships comes from putting up with stuff you never would have when you were feeling more confident. So, whether you move or not, that’s something that needs to be addressed. On the other hand, a change of environment might be just the thing you need to shake yourself out of the dating doldrums! And a smaller pond will give your Inner Diva a chance to really shine and be seen. Good luck on your quest!
