treadmill

You know how sometimes you feel as if you’re caught in a loop, sort of like Bill Murray in the film “Groundhog Day”? Seemingly negative cycles can take years to run their course, and then, after a short period of contentment, that same old cycle starts again. How do we ever get off the treadmill?

This is where Laura was coming from when she asked: I’ve been going through a lot, for the last few years. Is my life going to get better? I feel that it is, but I’ve been waiting a long, long time.

In order to answer your question, Laura, I did a basic Past, Present and Future Spread, with a fourth card pulled for Advice. Let’s see what’s coming up for you!

Card 1, Past: 2 of Cups

Love, Connections. Relationships of all kinds, including romantic ones. Partnerships.

Laura, in recent years, your focus may have been on love and relationships. You have always had a lot of love to give, and have been generous in sharing it with those close to you. This card’s presence In the spread may be urging to remember a time when you felt that you could love more freely.

Card 2, Present: Temperance

Achieving a good balance of different elements in your life. Finding your sweet spot. A good fit.

You may be figuring out what works and what doesn’t work in your life. What do you really need to be happy? Be honest with yourself and don’t go to extremes! Take a middle path, instead. Watch that tendency to bend over backwards for everyone in your life!

Card 3, Future: 7 of Swords

Oftentimes, feeling as if one has been misled. Feeling that something indefinable has been stolen. Actual theft. No ability to trust. Dishonesty.

Laura, this may be where you can make the most change in your life. When things start going well– trust it! This is a time to reclaim that which has been taken from you, whether it’s your faith in yourself, or your optimism, or ability to trust others. That’s how you break the current cycle and bring a new, positive future into being.

Card 4, Advice: Queen of Pentacles, reversed

Need to deal with unsuitable or uncomfortable home or work environment. Financial problems may cause undue stress. Need to remember what you’re worth! Love yourself!

One of the most important things you can do for yourself is learn to put yourself first for a change! Seriously do some self-pampering: do things for yourself that you’ve been waiting for someone else who loves you to do.

Treat yourself like you deserve the best. If you need to work on your living situation or workspace, this is definitely the time to do it! Work on surrounding yourself with beauty.

Wrapping it up:

If you feel like you keep going in circles, Laura, it might be time to break that cycle by choosing to do the things that will truly make you happy. Stop deferring your hopes for a more joyful future in the name of “everybody else’s needs come first!”
