Hardy Drew and the Nancy Boys
Saturday, October 8 / 8pm
Re-Bar
$15

Re-Bar is in serious peril. The dank and beloved jewel in the dented crown of our Gay Seattle certainly seems slated for the slaughterhouse too, another tragic casualty of Seattle’s manic land-grab. Have you seen her lately? She looks terrified.

Terrible looming skyscrapers have sprung up rudely all around her, like poisonous metal mushrooms (almost overnight!), and she sits there, shivering and scared, crying out for us to help her. Now certain groups of certain people have lept in to play her savior, and are conspiring to somehow finagle the dingy and delightful little dive enough of a historical status so save her from the wrecking ball (that under-washed Cobain fellow once trashed the place in an infamous scene, after all–among other things).

In the meantime, like a beloved and tragically terminal great auntie, we can only enjoy the living hell out of the place whist it still holds vital breath, and lavish upon it our time, our ardour, and our money. And tonight is a perfect opportunity to do exactly that by simply enjoying what Re-Bar has long done best: genre-skewering indie-theater with an excessively queer bent!

A very likely cast of very funny local characters including Todd Hull, Shannon Kipp, Ron Sandahl, and Craig Trolli bring us a queered-up, bottoms-up take on the old Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew mysteries, Hardy Drew and The Nancy Boys! Tight pants, eye-rolling gay innuendo and nosey dykes hungry for justice shall indeed ensue. It’s this week’s Adrian Ryan Approved Event™!
