The Mix is back with this week’s Friday Five. From dance and drag, to birthdays and benefits, don’t miss these five really amazing, hand-picked events happening this weekend.

Friday, Nov 25

Chaos ▼ Reigns
Friday, Nov 25 / 9pm
Pony (1221 E Madison)
21+

Whether you spent the day recovering from a food coma with your chosen family or hit the streets to protest the continuing attacks by an institutionally racist and queer-phobic state on oppressed peoples, we can’t think of a better way to unwind and let loose than to get down and dirty at Pony. Howin 1000 and Barebacchus take their turns on the turntables while queer babes of all stripes pack Pony’s tiny, hedonist triangle corner. They’ll also be taking donations to benefit the #NoDAPL protesters at Standing Rock! Don’t miss it.

Dina Martina Christmas Show
Friday, Nov 23 (through Dec 31) / 8pm
Re-bar (1114 Howell St)
$22
21+

One of our favorite holiday traditions is to watch this glorious angel of song and mirth, the original glamour toad (sorry Ginger) frolic joyfully across the stage at “Re-bar’s place,” regaling us with slightly fractured stories and slanted Christmas carols. You’ve never experienced holiday joy until you’ve been heckled by the queen of jift-giving herself.

Welcome to Wonderland
Sunday, Nov 27 (through Feb. 26) / 5:30pm
Teatro ZinZanni (154 14th Ave)
$99
21+

Lady Rizo is a precious jewel, her visits, far too rare. A Seattle legend in her own right, The Lady (AKA Amelia Zirin-Brown) graduated from Seattle’s own premier arts college, Cornish, and has been blazing big-hearted, fun, and frolicsome chanteuse-y  trails all over “off Broadway” ever since–including Joe’s Pub in The East Village, where she is something of a celebrated feature. (This puts The Lady in most excellent company indeed, including the recently late Leonard Cohen and Amy Winehouse, Neko case, Justin Vivian Bond–well, basically everyone from Melissa Etheridge to Eartha Kitt to Dolly Parton to Alice Coltrane have graced the boards at Joe’s…).

She is a Grammy winner. She has played to raves from honest-to-goodness royalty. She is an utterly original classic.

Here is a soupcon of The Riz, just to give you a taste, specific to our Seattle-y sensibilities:

The Lady has come to grace our salty Amazon shores once again at last, and is currently and glamorously headlining Teatro ZinZanni’s newest offering, Welcome to Wonderland, a fantastical, glittering romp down the rabbit hole and/or beyond the looking glass (take your pick). It’s an interdimensional carnivale of cabaret! Aerial acrobatics, original songs and performances, and, as a mind-bending bonus, the exquisite talents of another celebrated Seattle classic, Kevin Kent–all punctuated with a gourmet meal. It’s a most emphatically recommended Adrian Ryan’s Approved Event™!
